Position Overview THIS IS A TEMPORARY REPLACEMENT POSITION FOR A BARGAINING UNIT EMPLOYEE. Terms and conditions of employment are as outlined in the Support Staff Collective Agreement.
 
Reporting to the Manager, Marketing the incumbent will assess client requirements, design, develop and implement creative graphic design marketing solutions while adhering to the college’s brand platform and visual identity standards, editorial guidelines and marketing objectives. They will provide graphic design expertise and lead the application of the brand platform while working closely with all member of the Communications and Marketing team. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Providing concept development, design and production of marketing and communications products including but not limited to program guides, paid and unpaid media, brochures, signage, web / digital media, e-vites, etc.
  • Meeting with clients or team members to discuss the project plan
  • Preparing and presenting recommendations and concepts to clients including design direction
  • Working collaboratively with the Marketing team to maintain college brand standards and brand consistency throughout all marketing materials
  • Developing creative for print and digital formats, proof-reading work and preparing files for print production
  • Investigating and analyzing client target markets
  • Working with the Manager, Marketing, the incumbent liaises with subcontractors for printers and photographers by obtaining price quotes and determining cost effectiveness to complete projects
  • Coordinating delivery / invoicing details and the production schedule, assuring quality products and successful completion of projects is obtained
  • Developing annual photography plan, art directs photo shoots, archiving in the database and completing budget details
  • Assisting with the evaluation / development of the college brand standards / visual identity guidelines and monitoring / approving proper use of the college’s logo
  • Staying current on emerging technologies / trends and investigating / recommending new technology to enhance product development
Qualifications
  • Successfully completed a three year postsecondary diploma / degree in Graphic Design
  • Three years’ experience in graphic design work with experience in print and digital mediums, design, production and layout, and supporting the development and implementation of brand standards and visual identity guidelines
  • Proven experience and skills in retouching with demonstrated expertise in InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Demonstrated experience in Adobe Creative Suite in a PC environment
  • Experience leading / planning various size projects demonstrating project management skills
  • Interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral, to liaise with various stakeholders
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively in a fast paced deadline driven environment juggling multiple projects to ensure timelines are met
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
  • Additional certification: Certified Graphic Designer (CGD) is an asset
