Camera Operator and Video Editor
MediaFace is a fast-growing powerhouse in the content creation field with 10 years of history and a very bright future. We are seeking an experienced Camera Operator and Editor to join our growing team.
We need a person who has strong visual storytelling skills. Someone that starts conversations with “Hey, I have an idea…” not “What do you want me to do?”
We shoot in multiple ENG styles: documentary, run n’ gun, and full event coverage. We also have our own studio for shooting. To succeed in this role, you need to know when to use which style, and be very good at all of them.
If you're expecting a finalized storyboard and script before going on location, this isn't the job for you. We capture stories of the moment, even when the moment is organized chaos. Unscripted content accounts for 70% of our work.
All our editing happens in our new studio/office space in Leslieville. Here, you turn the material you captured in the field into inspirational content. Sometimes you’ll have three hours to get it out the door, other times three months. You’ll usually have between two and 11 projects on the go.
You need to be a self-starter, but also enjoy working with a team. You need to bring your expertise, but leave your ego at the door. We work hard and have fun.
Initial Skills and Qualifications
We work on FCPX so you must have experience on this system.
minimum 4 years professional camera experience
minimum 4 years professional editing experience
experience in multicam set-ups and both field and studio lighting
exceptional communication skills and experience dealing directly with clients
analytical skills to help identify client communication needs and to determine the appropriate style, approach and tone for communication materials
strong organizational skills to establish project schedules, identify required resources and manage project issues
technically proficient and able to maintain a wide variety of camera and audio equipment
What We Offer
If hired, you'll be supported by our hardworking and ambitious team -- a bunch of excellent collaborators and creative geniuses. The work itself is enjoyable, challenging and makes a difference. This is a permanent full time staff position, paid at a competitive hourly rate.
How to Apply
Please include your digital portfolio and a cover letter when applying.
Your digital portfolio should include some of the work you’ve shot and edited, as well as a brief description of your level of involvement on the project.
Your cover letter should answer these questions:
How have you ‘saved the day’ for a project?
What do you do when a shoot gets rained out?
The position is based in our office in Toronto’s Film District (Leslieville area). If you are offered the position, you MUST be able to obtain a vulnerable sector police clearance. You MUST have a valid driver’s licence. Only those able to work legally in Canada will be considered.
Please, no phone calls or visits.
Only responses with a cover letter will be considered. We appreciate your time in sending us your details, but only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
Applicants may ask for accommodations if required to ensure equal participation in the recruitment and job selection process.
