Remote Tech Coordinator

Rogers Media seeks an enthusiastic and outgoing applicant to manage remote live-to-air broadcasts and promotional events for our Toronto radio stations. You’ll report to the Engineering department and work directly with the Programming, Promotional and Sales teams supporting 680News, SN590 The Fan, CHFI-FM and KiSS 92.5This is a full time, task focused position with flexible work hours.

 

What you’ll do:

 

Oversee and coordinate multiple aspects of station remote events by:

 

  • Managing and attending live-to-air broadcasts including out-of-country, sales remotes and sports play-by-play broadcasts as weekly work hours permit. This includes pre-site location checks, equipment transport, assembly of station signage and displays and the setup and operation of audio equipment during broadcast
  • Collaborating with station clients and sales departments on event details
  • Mentoring and scheduling part-time promotional staff
  • Supporting equipment, displays and telecom circuits used for all remote broadcasts and sporting events
  • Organizing, scheduling, maintaining and regular testing of all broadcast remote assets, resolving issues with the Engineering and Promotions Department.
  • Constantly improving processes related to remote broadcasts
  • Arranging service of station fleet vehicles

 

What you bring:

 

  • Personable, outgoing and works well with on-air personalities and the public
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with non-technical staff
  • Excellent personal time management and ability to work independently, can steer initiatives to completion with minimal supervision
  • Available to work irregular hours including weekends, overnights and holidays
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally
  • Familiarity with audio technology and codec basics, including mixers and PA systems. Experience with network audio equipment such as Telos and Comrex welcomed
  • Ability to solve problems and work as part of a team in a fluid environment
  • Valid Ontario driver’s G class license required
  • Ability to lift objects 50+ lbs. and set up equipment to a height of 6’
