Videographer Editor Producer
Big Red Oak is a content agency and video studio specializing in cross-media storytelling. We help organizations build relationships and motivate action with the right people at the right time in the right way. The Big Red Oak team includes video content creators, producers, designers, illustrators, animators, writers, photographers, marketers, communicators, and strategists. We work with our clients to shape their brand narrative, develop the marketing and communications strategy, and create video and other content for the channels and media that matter to their audiences.
We are currently seeking a creative professional who can work as an extension of our Creative Director and Production & Client Services Lead to bring a continued focus on project excellence both in terms of quality of process and creativity of product. This role entails strategic contribution as well as collaboratively establishing and maintaining style, creative direction, and production management throughout the content creation process. These objectives are to be achieved through working with a team of in-house and freelance videographers, editors, and designers. The responsibilities for this role include editing at least 25% of their own or company projects. Projects may include broadcast commercials, corporate videos, or short documentaries.

Strategy and Management
? Collaborate with Sales/Strategy Lead to determine scope of each project/client initiative for possible new business ideas and cross communication content.
? Collaborate with the Creative Director and project team to determine the shooting style and creative approach for video projects. Explain internally and externally the rationale for creative choices.
? Contribute to the creation of written story frameworks and visual treatments.
? Contribute to the formulation of interview questions and/or narrative outlines.
? Coordinate and maintain production workflow as per the Producer/Production Management expectations established by the company, with reporting to the Production and Client Services Lead.
? Participate in budgeting with the Production and Client Services Lead and maintain ownership of the budget throughout the production process.
? Participate in client planning calls and meetings; suggest recommendations or solutions to support the video team and clients.
? Determine crew; collaborate and liaise as needed.
? Anticipate and communicate any problems that may affect schedule.
? Analyze assets and materials required for a successful video shoot.
? Analyze locations’ suitability with regard to lighting, facilities, etc.
? Coordinate and schedule production needs and prepare documents; i.e.: talent, locations, shooting schedules, workback, schedules.
? Engage with Video Production Manager to ensure that the appropriate gear is assembled and assigned to a project.
? Operate as on-set producer to liaise with clients and assist/direct production crew.
? Be prepared to take the lead or work as a team as camera operator/DP to capture interviews, as well as b-roll.
? Be able to conduct on-site interviews with clients and spokespersons.
? Work closely with both professional actors and amateurs for live action and on-camera narrative.
? Troubleshoot any potential problems with actors, clients, locations, conditions, etc.
? Ensure the post-production team is scheduled and has all necessary media assets required for each project.
? Be able to coordinate auxiliary visual assets, stock footage, sound design, colour correction, and music.
? Be able to coordinate closed captioning, transcripts, etc. as required.
? Review all draft videos prior to sending to the client.
? Function as in-house editor for projects as needed.
? Coordinate revisions with the video team and client.
? Oversee project wrap-up and ensure accounting details.
Candidate Attributes & Experience:
? Minimum of 10 years of experience in film/video post-production and familiarity with production aspects.
? Blend of creativity and execution; understand the client’s strategy and message and successfully translate that into a high-quality video. Have an “eye” for quality and high production values.
? Understand the editing, composition, and shooting process.
? Experience using the tools of the Adobe Creative Cloud suite (advanced proficiency with Premiere),
? Be an effective leader who is capable of managing teams and clearly defining expectations.
? Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an appreciation for marketing messages and strategies.
? Cultivate beneficial relationships internally and externally. Maintain strong client relationships.
? Demonstrate organizational and project management skills.
