570 NEWS Kitchener has an exciting opening for on its award winning news team for an experienced Anchor/Reporter and back-up Talk Show host. If you’re passionate about news and current events, able to juggle content, guests and listeners at the same time, have insatiable curiosity, are not afraid to ask the tough questions, and you’re also a good listener, then this is your dream position. The ideal candidate will be an authoritative Broadcaster and creative Host who can OWN and ADVANCE the day’s top stories.
Keep up to date with major developing stories with the goal of providing quick concise details of these stories on-air.
Cover assigned stories in a busy news/talk operation.
Be able to tell stories on multi-platforms.
Anchor shifts as needed and be responsible for writing, editing and presenting newscasts.
Contact and line-up guests on a daily basis.
Interview guests in a respectful non-biased manner.
Execute program in line with station format and philosophy.
Have the ability and desire to own the day's top stories.
Extend the experience online through Social Media.
Minimum of 4 years broadcast experience as a Anchor, Reporter or Talk Show Host in radio.
Strong communications skills, both written and oral.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
Self-starter and energetic.
Have a valid driver’s license.
Must be able to take direction well.
