570NEWS serves Waterloo Region, which includes Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, and a number of surrounding municipalities. We are home to two of Canada's leading universities, with a thriving high-tech sector, and an ever-growing population that wants to hear local news.

We have a part-time starter position for a reliable self-starter who can work independently, but also as part of a large, dynamic newsroom. You will be responsible for working on stories both in the studio, and out in the field, using apps to record, edit, report live when needed, and file completed stories.

Responsibilities:
Cover assigned stories in a busy news/talk operation.
Keep up to date with major developing stories with the goal of providing quick concise details of these stories on-air.
Be able to tell stories on multi-platforms.
Develop story ideas.
Conduct and edit news interviews, write scripts and broadcast the finished product.
Co-anchor a dynamic news wheel shift during the afternoon drive, plus midday updates.
Be able to fill-in for Anchor shifts as needed and be responsible for writing, editing and presenting newscasts.
Assist in other areas of our operation as required.

Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year broadcast experience in news radio.
Working knowlegde of Burli.
Strong communications skills, both written and oral.
Detail oriented.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment
Self-starter and energetic.
Must be able to take direction well.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
