Your role
As National Reporter, you will produce, mainly for radio but will also produce for all our platforms (digital, radio and TV), reports on national and international events/issues for the News department and for News-related programs. You may also be required to conduct in-depth analyses of news stories, in keeping with corporate standards and policies.
 
For reference purposes, this position is assigned to radio news.
Qualifications
 
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent
  • Seven (7) years' journalism experience or the equivalent
  • At least three (3) years’ radio journalism experience
Skills:
  • Extensive general knowledge
  • In-depth knowledge of Canada's and Quebec's social, political and economic affairs
  • Experience in a parliamentary bureau an asset
  • Comfortable behind the microphone
  • Comfortable at using computer / electronic tools
  • Proficiency with communication techniques specific to the medium (live reporting, sound recording, scriptwriting)
  • Proficiency with editing functions
  • Knowledge of digital production (podcast, photo, video, writing)
  • Knowledge of the Corporation's Journalistic Standards and Practices
  • High degree of independence / initiative
  • Able to analyze, synthesize and think critically about complex topics
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Able to work well on a team
  • Able to conduct interviews for broadcast
  • Able to adapt to difficult working conditions (long hours)
  • Fluency in French
  • Advanced oral proficiency, intermediate writing proficiency and advanced reading proficiency in English
  • Valid driver's licence
Selected candidates will be tested as follows:
  • Theoretical test: Position-related knowledge
  • Practical test: Various situation scenarios related to production requirements
  • Interview
