We’re looking for a Supervising Editor to create, oversee, and dictate editorial betting content. The ideal candidate will play an integral role in shaping the formats, volume, voice, and impact of our year-round editorial gambling coverage. You must thrive working with others and be capable of steering a multifaceted team of content creators. As a sports gambling enthusiast, you should have a proven track record of creating thoughtful, digestible, and useful sports betting content that resonates with casual and die-hard bettors alike.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of content creators with a focus on producing compelling sports betting insight and analysis.
  • Write, edit, and assign betting content around games, major events, and strategy.
  • Leverage data to deliver best-in-class advice, education, and unique opportunities for sports bettors.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to determine coverage plans for your staff around news and major events.
  • Work with the Director of Content to advance long-term department strategy.
  • Play a key role in developing new multimedia projects related to sports betting, such as podcasts, video, and newsletters.
  • Produce sports betting content for theScore Bet marketing initiatives.
  • Represent theScore as a sports wagering expert across the North American media landscape.
  • Schedule your team members and communicate weekly coverage plans with the wider content department.
  • Provide exemplary feedback to your team, including requests for edits, rewrites, and additions.
  • Coordinate with the copy-editing team regarding around-the-clock editing plans.
  • Other duties as required.

 Requirements:

  • A firm grasp of advanced betting data, lines, odds, and the ability to leverage a variety of resources for content creation.
  • Unassailable knowledge of North American sports and sports wagering.
  • 4+ years of content production experience (leadership capacity preferred)
  • A comprehensive understanding of the sports betting media industry, including editorial, multimedia, and advanced analytics.
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, or equivalent knowledge and/or experience in advanced sports betting analysis.
  • Flexibility with regards to scheduling.
  • Exceptional communication skills, professionalism, and integrity.
  • Leadership mentality with the motivation to see others succeed.
  • Impeccable writing and editing skills, and an eye for detail.
  • A creative mind and the ability to generate unique story ideas.
  • Proactive approach to generating multimedia content and collaboration.
  • Previous experience in a newsroom environment, ideally in digital media.
