Graphic Designer / Marketing Coordinator

The Graphic Designer/Production Coordinator will work under general supervision to create, coordinate and execute the marketing and communication needs of various departments within the School. Utilizing their extensive knowledge of design concepts, media, and software tools, they will coordinate the overall layout and production design for marketing/business materials required throughout the year by the organization. This position involves key administrative duties, potential execution of marketing initiatives, as well as working effectively with all departments in a fast paced office environment setting.

Major Responsibilities

· Meet with internal clients and/or the Communications and Marketing Director to determine the scope of the project;

· Create/revise and print in-house: Invitations, programs, displays, posters, maps, signage, and stationery as needed;

· Design and prepare for printer: Yearbook, newsletters, ads, brochures, visual identity pieces (business cards, letterhead, envelopes), keeping documents consistent with other Brentwood pieces;

· Ensure Branding meets standard guidelines for marketing materials, apparel, signage, and word docs;

· Collaborate with colleagues on projects as required; major annual projects include Graduation, Yearbook, Brentonian, Regatta and numerous theatre productions throughout the School year;

· Select appropriate media and materials, colours, images, text style and layout for material;

· Present projects for review and incorporate recommended changes into the final design;

· Inspect projects for accuracy and adherence to corporate standards before publishing them;

· Create and prepare files for print;

· Work with printers for quotes, proofing and approval of documents;

· Respond to, track, and complete marketing requests in a timely manner;

· Ensure in-house/external client satisfaction;

· Respond to complaints and problems efficiently and professionally;

· Perform other duties as required.

Education/Experience

  • Minimum high school diploma, with college certification in design. A degree in marketing and experience with video / rich media is considered an asset;
  • Able to demonstrate creativity and originality through a professional portfolio, showcasing magazine-quality layout, typography, and design;
  • Up to 2 years work experience in a similar role; preference will be given to those with experience in web design and marketing;
  • Familiarity with the independent school office environment an asset.

  • The work environment and the responsibilities of this position provide for a high degree of self-direction in setting work priorities and meeting deadlines for short and long-term projects;
  • Lifting or moving up to 30 lbs may be required;
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
