The CoSA VFX Vancouver studio is seeking an experienced, B.C.-based Compositing Lead with expertise in Nuke to start October. While currently working remotely, this role may return to the physical studio in the future.
Work collaboratively with the project comp supervisor and artists under the guidance of the Global Head of 2D to create high quality visual effects
Motivate artists to communicate and increase overall dialogue within their project- between themselves, the comp supervsior, producer, VFX supervisor, CG supervisor, and production coordinators
Nurture and train internal talent as well as new hires to enhance growth and skill
When needed, assist the comp supervisor to assign compositors to tasks, ensuring the artists are working to their strengths and providing them with creative challenges where possible
Attend dailes to understand the creative direction for each shot as set from the compositing supervisor or VFX supervisor and guide the team to achieve that direction
Available to the team to problem solve and assists with technical and creative challenges
Support the project comp supervisor with issues or development of the compositing pipeline for the project
Assist with presets, templates and workflow for the project throughout the project’s run
When necessary, document processes to ensure propagation to other artists on the project
Collaborate with the compositing supervisor on more efficient technical solutions that might help with the desired outcomes and flags and technical or creative issues on the project
Carry out QC checks of shots before review by the compositing supervisor or VFX supervisor
Communicate regularly with Compositing Supervisor on the progress of shots and flagging if shots are not progressing as expected
Minimum of 5 years’ of experience in visual effects for broadcast television and/or feature films
At least 2 years of experience as a Comp Lead in the production of High-End Visual Effects for Television/Film.
Great teamwork, excellent communication and collaborative skills applied within the VFX team, Producers, VFX Supervisors and Clients on project status.
Be able to effectively execute all necessary assigned tasks while under tight production schedule deadlines.
Expert level of Nuke
Knowledge of Ftrack or other production shot tracking software.
Fluency of pipeline workflow in a post-production environment.
Strong aesthetic sensibility, with an eye for creativity and design.
Self-motivated problem solver with a positive attitude.
