Technical Management Assistant

This position reports to the Production Administrator or designate and is part of the Production department.   



  • Purchase materials and arrange for their delivery/pickup to the Scene Shop, Sound, Lighting and Staging departments of the 4 theatres and other departments as required.
  • Research and source new vendors and specialty items as requested. Obtain and publish pricing from suppliers to assist with show costings. Process purchase orders and track arrivals of materials purchased and outstanding items. Enter purchase orders in the accounting system. Create and maintain searchable purchased materials archival database. Review invoices.
  • Prioritize, schedule and publish daily itineraries of production drivers. Coordinate and document internal requests for production vehicles and drivers. Coordinate out-of-town trucking needs and build driver itineraries based on those needs. Establish, communicate and update transportation schedules with Wardrobe Management for costume runs to the Avon, Tom Patterson and Studio theatres from the Festival and between the Costume Warehouse and theatres.
  • Responsible for arranging regular service, repairs & certification of Production vehicles and equipment.
  • Update library of resource catalogues. Update database of driver locations/directions. Provide database updates and backups to users.
  • Assist in the implementation of policy and procedures of the Production Department. Provide a communication link for Operations and Human Resources and all other Departments.
  • Adhere to the Stratford Festival Health & Safety Commitment and Procedures, and ensure that safe work practices and policies are supported and enforced within reporting structure.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



  • Post-secondary degree, diploma or equivalent education and experience in a field related to Theatre Production, Logistics or Business
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in theatre production, purchasing and/or logistics, preferably in a performing arts industry
  • Experience supervising a unionized crew
  • Proficient with Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) with adaptability to learn new applications
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and employment standards
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality
  • Strong attention to detail in all areas of work
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a positive attitude

Preference will be given to candidates with experience using GP Dynamics, Filemaker Pro or other accounting and database software.

This full time position is located in Stratford, Ontario and will begin immediately. This position requires the candidate to work both onsite and remotely when required.


Job Type: Full Time

Annual Salary: $50,000-$56,000
