You will ensure that all CBC journalistic standards are met and that our stories are fair, balanced, accurate, thoughtful, immediate and resonate with the communities we serve.
The weekend digital reporter selects CBC assigned stories and writes material for presentation online primarily for regional websites, with an expectation that radio and TV material may also be assigned. Demonstrates and maintains exceptional skill in writing, editing and packaging for online.
Please note this is a permanent part-time weekend position.
- Writes, edits, packages, and publishes digital content in a clear and concise manner.
- Curates the local landing page.
- Ensures the website and stories adhere to the priorities of the day.
- Chases, gathers and reports information from various sources.
- Re-writes material as necessary to make it more relevant to the platform.
- Selects photos, and video/audio clips to accompany online stories.
- Contributes to local radio and TV newscasts as needed.
- University degree or equivalent.
- Two to three years of directly related experience in a multi-platform news environment.
- Proven understanding of the stories of underrepresented communities and how to tell them.
- Ensuring inclusive language and framing in stories that accurately represent the diverse experiences of British Columbians.
- Strong journalistic and communication skills.
