Scripted Development Coordinator/Manager

ALIBI ENTERTAINMENT is looking to expand our scripted team. We on the hunt for a SCRIPTED DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR/MANAGER. This is a FULL-TIME position, reporting to the VP of Scripted and located in Toronto. Job will split time between in-person and remote.

The goal of this position will be to eventually grow into a Scripted Development & Production Executive that will run point on a slate of television projects.

Alibi’s scripted division was founded in 2018 and has built a strong reputation for being a creator-focused company that values strong collaborative relationships with creatives and broadcasting partners. Alibi has a busy development slate focusing on both drama and comedy series for a variety of buyers.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with VP of Scripted and writers/creators to develop pilot scripts, pitch decks and verbal pitches to present to both the Canadian and International TV markets; providing notes on all creative materials and providing support for the department.
  • Help identity series pitches, spec pilots and IP to develop into Series of all shapes and sizes.
  • Tracking all legal and creative deliverables in collaboration with the Business Affairs department.
  • Generating internal ideas for series that can be pitched on by writers/creators
  • Work towards the ability to ‘own’ a project from initial concept, through pitch development and into greenlight stage.
  • Assist in the management of the script Development departmental calendar.
  • Manage and track all incoming script and submissions – reading and reviewing materials in a timely manner.

 

WHO YOU ARE:

  • 2+ Years of TV Development Experience with an agency, production company or broadcaster as an assistant, coordinator, or manager role.
  • A genre-agnostic TV-Obsessive that digs deeper than the big buzzy TV series and finds the hidden gems from all over the international content landscape
  • Experienced in both drama and comedy development, with some knowledge of Canadian Broadcast Executives, Agents and Writers/Creators.
  • A strong sense of the International TV market, what’s selling, who’s buying and what’s coming next.
  • A decisive and independent thinker who can succeed without much oversight.
  • Articulate and collaborative – able to identify clear targeted goals and draw a road map to achieve them, with the ability to pivot with a constantly changing industry.
  • Experience within the Canadian TV ecosystem: CMF, IPF, Tax Credits, etc.
  • Unique life experience and interests – a genuine curiosity about the world.
  • Working knowledge of standard industry software: GoogleDocs, Office, Zoom, Photoshop, Indesign, Final Draft, MovieMagic Screenwriter, etc.)
