Production Accountant

Scott Brothers Entertainment, a multifaceted company that strives to develop cutting-edge entertainment by combining years of experience in film, television and digital media is looking to fill a Production Accountant position to join their rapidly growing Accounting department in their Toronto location. This is a permanent position, working on some very exciting new projects!

The Production Accountant will support a wide variety of production content and oversee the accounting on multiple in-house productions. The chosen candidate will work closely with the line producers and production managers and report to the Director of Finance. They will be responsible for all production accounting and associated cost reporting, managing production payroll, accounts payable, statutory remittances and filings, as well as various accounting duties within the department.



  • Monitor production budgets, prepare cost reports and analyze costs and expenditures, and work with Line Producers to forecast Estimated Final Costs and cash flow requirements
  • Work with Line Producers to gather and maintain appropriate start paperwork, deal memos, contracts, and timesheets for processing
  • Track milestone invoicing to production partners to ensure funds are received in a timely manner
  • Reconcile and analyze balance sheet accounts, and process bill-backs of corporate costs
  • Assist with financial month-end close and daily accounting activity on tight deadlines, including preparing and filing HST returns
  • Compile information for production company audits and/or notice to readers



  • Minimum of 3 years of combined production and accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the production process and experience with budgets and monthly cost reports, as well as familiarity with tax credit regulations
  • Outstanding critical thinking skills and enjoys working in a challenging, fast-paced environment
  • The ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and manage time effectively; manage work under pressure and manage tight deadlines
  • Proficiency with Quickbooks and Excel is required, knowledge and experience with Cast & Crew payroll an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as analytical skills
  • Strong organizational skills and able to manage multiple requests in order of priority
  • Hands on, willing to roll up your sleeves and get into the details
  • Positive, enthusiastic, with a can-do attitude and a team player approach
