The Canada Media Fund (CMF) is looking for a visionary, dynamic, and forward-thinking Vice President, Growth & Inclusion to join our team!

As VP of Growth & Inclusion, you will be responsible for leading the design and delivery of the CMF’s growth, inclusion, equity, and accessibility strategies, which aim to foster a more diverse, inclusive, and competitive Canadian audiovisual industry. You will also oversee the expansion of the CMF’s sector development program, which supports capacity building, export, and international partnerships.

Reporting to the EVP, Marketing and Public Affairs and working closely with a team of four, your role will include collaborating with the CEO, executive team, and other department heads to integrate Growth and Inclusion objectives into the CMF’s funding model, through both regular and targeted programs.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

To manage the redevelopment, design and delivery of the CMF’s Inclusion and Growth strategies and the expansion of the sector development program.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and leads the implementation of a Growth Strategy for the CMF in consultation with all departments and PCH focused on sustaining companies, increasing export, and growing international partnerships.
  • Oversees the Director of Inclusion and Growth in the design and implementation of a new CMF Inclusion Strategy
  • Designs the industry component of the new CMF Program Model to enable capacity building, export and international partnerships.
  • Leads the integration of Inclusion and Growth objectives into the CMF’s funding model, both regular and targeted programs, working with other departments
  • Oversees Sector Development program and initiatives in collaboration with Inclusion and Growth staff
  • Leadership of direct report(s) – Sector Development Manager and Director of Inclusion and Growth
  • Support the planning and growth of the department, including training and hiring of new staff
  • Support the CEO and EVPs on strategy work and government relations as required
  • Supports the EVPs work to increase and diversify funding for Inclusion and Growth programs
  • Participate in and supports organizations planning and strategy with other department heads
  • Brief senior management and Board on the CMF’s Inclusion and Growth work, including key messages and briefing notes
  • Represent the CMF on working groups and at public events or conferences

 

INTERPERSONAL/COMMUNICATIONS

(A) INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports to EVP Marketing and Public Affairs
  • Interacts with other VPs on matters of organizations planning and collaboration
  • Interacts with other departments including communications, research and content
  • Interacts with CMFPA

  • Screen sector organizations and stakeholders
  • PCH staff
  • Staff at other funding bodies

 

RESPONSIBILITY

  • Manager role

  • Approves spending and manages the department budget
  • Approves Sector Development allocations
  • Approves reports, publications and partnership or funding agreements
  • Supports strategic planning of the organization and articulates detailed reasons for recommendations with explicit rationale(s).

 

JOB SPECIFICATION/SKILLS

EDUCATION

  • Relevant university degree or years of experience

 

EXPERIENCE

  • Has a solid knowledge of Canada’s screen industries, including TV, film and interactive digital media production; and
  • Senior organizational or project management experience
  • Experience managing granting or funding programs is an asset
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience working in the screen industry.

 

KNOWLEDGE

  • Superior analysis, strategy and research skills
  • Superior project and budget management experience
  • Superior oral/written communication skills;
  • Superior interpersonal skills;
  • Can work in English and French, or as part of a bilingual team that serves the English and French markets; and
  • Strong computer skills, including competence in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Established network within Canada’s screen industries.

  • Some travel required;
  • Work autonomously and as part of a team; and
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and balance multiple priorities in a constantly changing environment.
